Reliving this adventure has me more in love with the experience every time. Convincing the guard to let us stay alone overnight took some persistence, and sleeping at 16,000′ was impossible for me… but the seclusion was amazing compared to when the hoards of tourists arrived the next morning. This is Palcoyo, with many rainbow mountains.
